5 Reasons being healthy saves money

Housing, food and transportation are the three major expenses that we have. After these comes medical expenses. The medical field is a billion-dollar business (that’s right I said business). The cost for medical attention as well as medication is ridiculous.

In this country most credit reports have some kind of medical bill listed (if you do this is a HIPAA violation that can be disputed off your credit report)

This is why most low-income families don’t go to the doctor and don’t have health insurance due to not being able to afford to go to the doctor. They also have a hard time getting the medication that they need due to high cost.

The best thing you can do now day’s is to be as healthy as you can. Today I will be sharing 5 ways being healthy saves money long term.

One

Doctor visits

The better your health the less doctor visits you will have to make. By being healthy you don’t have to worry about paying multiple doctor and ER bills.

If you don’t know (allow me to elaborate) Hospital visits are expensive, one overnight stay can cost you up to 2 to 3 thousand dollars and that is just for one night. Multiply that by days and even weeks.

Keeping up with your health and making annual checkups can keep this cost down and even non existing. I know that things happen but if you can stay out of the hospital your money will love you for it.

The best thing you can do is make annual doctor visits or prevention visits. Most health insurance is the USA covers prevention care. This means they will cover most if not all of your yearly visits and if you do have to pay its no more than $25 to $50 a year depending on the size of your family.

Two

Medication

Let’s face it once you are on medication for one thing you will surely be on another for something else. Most medication treat one symptom and then cause another. It’s a vicious cycle that never ends.

Most health deficiencies have a lot to do with what you are or are not putting into your body. For example, if you have a iron deficiency then your body isn’t getting enough iron. You have the option of doing two things. One take iron pills or liquid, the other is adding more food with iron into your diet.

although the cost of food is high these days (like crazy high) it’s still cheaper to add iron to your diet then paying for iron pills each month. Plus, you already have to buy food, you don’t have to by iron pills.

Three

Less time off work

How many times have you had to rob Peter to pay Pual due to your check being short from sick days from work?

if your sick you can’t work and if you don’t work you don’t make money (unless you have money set aside). Even if you get sick pay, sometimes it still isn’t enough. What I mean by that is this, at my job we have shift differential. This means you get paid more based on the shift that you work. However, If I take paid time off or sick leave, I get paid base pay (that means I don’t get the shift differential) I get paid but at a lesser rate. My budget is based on what my take home pay is for each check if one is short then I can’t pay all my bills (if I am living paycheck to paycheck.

Four

Less stress

Stress Kills, I cannot make that any clearer.

Stress can affect you mentally as well as physically. You could end up missing work due to stress and or lose your job altogether.

Being stressed out can make a person work poorly and even make really bad decisions. Many people overeat when they are stress this means they end up spending more on food (then they have to). Some people like to spend money or shop when they are stress. This can have you overspending and not having money to pay your bills.

You could have a lot of extra expenses due to stress causing health or mental problems.

Five

Prevention

There are many diseases that can be treated or reversed due to early detection. This can save you so much money. If you can find the problem early enough it can also save your life.

By going to your doctor when you first start seeing signs or symptoms in some cases you can have a treatment that is not so costly. It can be as simple as changing your diet. However, the longer it takes you to get treated the more you will pay for it.

Example if you find out that you have type two diabetes and you start a treatment plan early you can reverse it. If you have symptoms of diabetes and do nothing you may have to be on medication for the rest of your life or you may have to have your foot or leg removed.

If this happens you will have a lot of medical bills and added expenses due to having to change your lifestyle because you only have one leg, or you don’t have any legs.

Well, that’s all that I have for today, I hope this helps you on your journey.
