One of the first steps to a better life is organization. The first place you need to start organizing is your mind.
Life is full of twist and turns and trying to navigate through it can be an overwhelming experience.
With the pressure of work life, paying bills, keeping your home in order and a family together it can feel like they’re just not enough time in a day or days in the week.
Often you find yourself mentally, physically and emotionally drained. You can also feel lost and confused trying to figure out this thing we call life.
There comes a moment when you tell yourself that things have to change. That there has to be a better way to live and manage this ocean that is drowning us all.
The first step in controlling the chaos is getting your mind right.
How do you Organize your mind?

Mind Clearing
Your mental health is very important when it comes to getting your life together. Every move that you make starts with a thought or idea. If you don’t have a clear mind when you are making life decisions, then you find yourself back in the same spot over and over again.
Why, most of the decisions that we make on impulse don’t solve the problem they just band aid it. It is a temporary solution to a never-ending situation.
The first step in mind clearing is being still. Allowing yourself to go through the emotions. Yell if you want, scream, cry do what every you need to, so you can release your negative energy.
Then find a way to just stop thinking for a while. I don’t mean days or weeks. Find time in your day just to be in the moment. Not thinking about the tornado that is moving around you. Take some me time and let your mind unwind.
If you are unsure how to start, I have some ideals to help get you started.
- Take a drive- Just get in your car and go, you can have a place in mind or just drive on the open or back roads.
- Take a bubble bath – lock the bathroom door and just relax
- Mommy or Daddy time out- I was told about this from my sister in-love(in-law). So, this works with you telling your kids (and partner) that you are taking a timeout and they are to just let you be alone till you come out of time out. (I love this, and I wish that I knew about this when my own kids were growing up.)
- Take a nature walk or jog- get out the house and enjoy the outdoor and be one with nature
- Go fishing- this is a great way to find peace and dinner(lol)
- Learn how to breath- this sounds simple but it’s really not. Most of us do not know how to breath the right way. There are many books and YouTube videos on the right way to breath. Trust me it is very relaxing and game changing.
Declutter
Yes, just like a house, garage and shed your mind can be full of clutter.
So, just like you declutter your home or closet you do the same thing mentally.
On a sheet a paper right three categories:
- keep
- remove
- replace
In the keep section write all the things that are good in your life. Write the things that bring you joy, that make you happy. Write the habits that are working for you. Ideals that you would like to try. Everything that is positive in your life that will help get you to the life you want.
In the re-move section write all the things that you need to remove from your life, even if its people. I know it’s hard to let go of the one’s we love but if they keep negativity around you or just there for the party but not the cleanup (they got to go). Write down the things that keep you from moving forwarded in life.
In the replace section write all the things you need to replace with something new. If you have bad habits write them down and what you want to replace them with. If you talk down to yourself, write affirmations that you can say to replace negative thoughts.
Simplify
Here are some ides to help you with simplifying your thoughts:
- Ask yourself what happen?
- Ask yourself what are you trying to achieve?
- Ask yourself where is your state of mind in this moment?
- Ask yourself do you need help?
- Ask yourself what worked, what didn’t work?
- Ask yourself is this major or minor?
- Ask yourself how long will it take to correct this problem, or how long will it take to make this happen?
- Ask yourself what can you utilize to solve this?
- Ask yourself do you have to make sacrifices and what they are?
- Tell yourself this is just one moment, and it will pass
Focus
Now that you have your mind clear and organized it will be easy for you to focus.
Take time to write down strategies that will help you change the things in your life that will better your lifestyle.
Write down a Life Plan for the things that you want to implement.
Focus on one thing at a time so that you are not overwhelmed.
Once you learn how to organize your mind, organizing your life will be much easier.
Well, that’s all I have for today, I hope this helps you on your journey.
