When it comes to most have in your kitchen its best to spend money today, so you won’t have to keep spending money.
I have a few products that I bought for the kitchen that I feel all frugal people should have to save money for years to come.
I like to call them “My Kitchen Investments”. The reason why they are investments and not gadgets is because they last forever and you will use these products daily, weekly and monthly.
The first item on the list is the Kitchen Aid stand mixer. This is a most have for a frugal kitchen due to it being the most versatile appliances that you will every use in your kitchen. You can do everything from make your own butter to grinding your own meat you can also make homemade ice cream. There are 10 attachment that you are able to buy and most come with three already in the mixer box. Below is the list of all 10 attachments:
Pasta Roller and Cutter
Gourmet Pasta Press
Spiralizer Plus with Peel, Core and Slice
Juicer
Food Processor with Dicer
Slicer and Shredder
Food Grinder
Tit-Head Flex-Edge Beater
This is also what I like to call a onetime buy, once you have all the attachments you don’t need to buy anything else.
The next item on my most have list is a food saver system. This is a vacuum seal system that helps you keep your frozen food fresh longer. It also helps with food prepping and stockpiling meat and vegetables in your freezer.
All though many people like to use freezer bags and reuse them as a means to be frugal. At some point you have to through the bags away and if you don’t clean them well or let them dry fully this can be a problem. Yes, reusing will save you money and is frugal however it is not the best option.
The vacuum bag system is a lot better, and you are able to stockpile the bags just like you would with the freezer bags. You have many sizes when it comes to the vacuum system and different price points that you are able to choose from.
I like to tell people this is a small investment that goes along way. You see if you are stockpiling once you have the amount that you want you don’t have to buy any bags tell you need them. This can be awhile if your stockpile is big like 6 months to a year or more.
Another product on my list is a Crockpot and or a Instapot. These are great for people that don’t have a lot of time to be in the kitchen. Me and my family love what they call ” dump meals”. These are meals that you just dump into the crockpot or Instapot and go.
Most of these meals only use a few ingredients and you have a set time of how long you cook each meal. You are not slaving over a stove, and they also help keep your electric bill down by using these rather than using your stove.
They also cut coast when it comes to groceries. Since we have been doing crockpot meals we don’t cook as much because we are able to have leftovers to take to work the next day. Sometimes if we have a lot of leftovers, we freeze the leftovers to have for a meal at a later time.
Another great thing about having a Instapot or a Crockpot is there is really not any meal that you can think of that can’t be made in one if not both of these machines. I also like that if we have a potluck you don’t have to find something to take the food in. You can take the pot with you and just plug it up and serve the food hot right from the pot.
Last thing about the crockpot and Instapot, the cleanup doesn’t get much easier then cooking in one of these. You just take out the pot and clean it and place it back on the bass (for the crockpot). Both systems are dishwasher safe and mess free.
The last thing on my most have kitchen investment is Cast Iron cook ware.
This is an old stable that many of us have seen are grandparents use in their kitchen and with good reason. Cast Iron is they most versatile cook ware you will ever own. It is also the most durable, many of us have grandparents that are no longer with us, but their cast iron skillets are still here and in good shape.
What I love about cast Iron cook ware is the fact that it can be used indoor or outdoor. You can use them for camping trips and if your oven goes out as long as the stove top works you still can cook most of your oven meals on the stove.
I will say that I like the older cast iron more than the newer ones. So, if you can find one at a thrift store or a yard sale snag it if you can.
However, one of the good things about the newer cast iron cook ware is that these days they come preseason, and they come in different colors. So, if you don’t like the old fashion black or the gray you can pick colors that match your kitchen colors or other appliances that you have.
One more plus with cast iron is that it cooks evenly no matter what the cook top. Most people like to use gas with cast iron, but you can use electric and still have a great tasting meal.
Cast Iron cook ware is also a onetime buy, once you have all the pots, skillets, stockpots, griddles and back ware that you need you never have to buy another one for as long as you live.
You can’t get more frugal than that, believe me!
Well that is all that I have for today, I hope that this help you with your journey.
Thank you for reading Everything Frugal.
